Our Welcoming Scholarship is GIROMATCH’s 4th scholarship which rewards students’ social engagement. In 2020, we launched our “Covid Scholarship without paperwork” after receiving increased loan applications from students who lost their source of income because of the actual pandemics.
In early 2022, we expanded our loans’ offer to foreign nationals and internationals. Through our English speaking homepage we received increasing loan applications from people with international backgrounds. For this reason, we decided to offer the 4th scholarship under the motto "Welcoming Scholarship" to support Incoming Students from Ukraine and their Helpers.

There are over 350,000 foreign students in Germany. 7,000 of them are from Ukraine. Since February 2022, thousands more students from Ukraine have arrived in Germany - and the numbers will continue to grow.
The commitment of many German students who are stepping up to welcome and give a home to fellow Ukrainian students is overwhelming. In this way they are making their solidarity tangible. GIROMATCH wants to further encourage helping initiatives.
With our Welcoming Scholarship we are keen to support:
We offer successful applications either € 500,- immediate aid or a € 500,- donation to a non-profit organization of your choice.
As an incoming student with Ukrainian origins you can receive 500,- Euro as immediate aid.
As a Helper you can either receive 250,- Euro for yourself and donate 250,- Euro to charity, or donate your whole scholarship to a non-profit organization of your choice.
Students of all recognized universities and colleges throughout Germany. We only require that you are enrolled at the time of application.
Ukrainian students must be able to prove their study background as well as their citizenship.
As an incoming student from Ukraine you can tell us your background and bring attention to your story.
As a Helper, you show us in your application how you concretize your commitment and convince us of your sense of responsibility.
Create a video of up to 2 minutes or put your story down on paper in a creative way.

As soon as the application phase is open, you can apply for the scholarship with an online application.
In the online application, all necessary information is requested step by step. You will then have the opportunity to submit your one-pager, your application text, your collage, your video, your song - or whatever your application looks like.
